“There are two means of refuge from the misery of life- music and cats” Albert Schweitzer.
It has to be recognised that the presence of a cat can make things so much more bearable. They have so many qualities that, as humans, we can only hope to emulate. Being flexible and coping in ones surroundings, taking opportunities that present to them, and most of all knowing that a good nap can solve most things. I do miss my own cat, Jups, who is currently living in the lap of luxury at my parents. His ginger ever purring self was always a welcome presence and a glad distraction from more pressing matters.
Albert Schweitzer was a fascinating man as you may have guessed from his quote he loved cats and music. He was a philosopher and perception changer of then modern Christianity. He even won a Noble Peace prize for his work in the philosophical text Reverence for Life. He demonstrated the philosophy in action in African hospitals. His wiki page is here if you’d like to read more about him.
