Wednesday Wisdom Round Up III

A compilation of the previous 9 Wednesday Wisdoms

We’re looking at the past nine Wednesday Wisdoms today, to take a look at the pretty pictures I made and the fancy things I wrote. The first round up is here and the second here if you want to look back over the archives!

271217 | Benjamin Franklin

"How many observe Christ's birthday! How few, His precepts!" Benjamin FranklinThe first one of the round up and the last one of last year. It’s a scathing remark about how many people celebrate and make out like they’re religious *cough American Christians* but how few actually hold up the teachings.

030118 | Immortan Joe

"Do not, my friends, become addicted to water. It will take hold of you, and you will resent it's absence" Immortan Joe, Mad Max Fury RoadWhen one compares water with luxury, like what is going on with Flint in the US, it’s only a sign that society is crumbling. It’s a thinly disguised stabbed at the orange buffoon in American.

100118 | Albert Schweitzer

Kitty cat's back, with the writing "There are two means of refuge from the misery of life- music and cats" quote from Albert SchweitzerJust a quote about how awesome cats are- that’s about it really!

170118 | Stephen King

Bookcase with the quote "Books are a uniquely portable magic" as said by Stephen King. He’s a wonderful writer. Either in his novels or his tweets. King is pretty much on the dot with his thoughts on books. And cats.

240118 |  Lawrence Durrell

"Travel can be one of the most rewarding forms of introspection" Lawrence DurrellI’m trying to remember why exactly I chose this theme, therefore this quote, for Wednesday Wisdom. I think we were playing a vacation or something- either way a lovely thought.

310118 | Greg House

"It's a basic truth of the human condition that everybody lies. The only variable is about what." Greg House, HouseSometimes you have to remember that people lie. Not always to damage others, sometimes just to make themselves feel better. Greg House, MD, was never ever ever shy about highlighting this.

070218 | ‘1984’ by George Orwell

"But if thought corrupts language, language can also corrupt thought." '1984' by George OrwellI was thinking about language this week. I’m actually finishing 1984 now, I had started it when I was younger but never actually polished it off. The use of Newspeak is terrifying, a purposeful drive to remove words- thus remove what they mean in a hope to control a nation of people. Shivers down my spine.

140218 | Karin Slaughter

"I think some people are good at being alone, and some people aren't, and as a child, I really liked it" Karin SlaughterReminding oneself that being a lone on Valentines day doesn’t make you a bad person, an invalid person, an undesirable person. It just means you’ve not found the right person. Being alone isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

210218 | Emma Darwin

"You must remember that you are my prime treasure (and always have been)" From Emma Darwin to her maaaaaaaanJust a cute little thing for Belov’d as it’s been a whole year of being an engaged couple. I remember the question and I said “Yes” x
