"Not an angel of the air, Bird melodious or bird fair, Be absent hence" Shakespeare's "The Bridal Song"

“Not an angel of the air, Bird melodious or bird fair, Be absent hence” Shakespeare’s “The Bridal Song”

Seeing as how I’m doing this today, rather than a head of time, I thought I would take up the kindly offer of @HollowCrownFans‘ to join in on their themed Shakespeare Sundays. This week it is wings, and I’ve taken it from “The Bridal Song”.

There has been a long history of animals being mistaken for the mystical. Birds for angels. Manatees for mermaids. I rather like how Shakespeare doesn’t kid himself, it’s a bird- but it still a pleasant part of life…

Unless you have a hang over, and your new flat is in the dawn chorus central of Cork ;D
